Kevin James Gahn

Kevin James Gahn, 40, of 1201 Virginia St., died at 1:50 a.m. Sunday, July 12, 1992, at the Fort Madison Community Hospital.

Born May 10, 1952, in Burlington, he was the son of James A. and Sanchia D. Lietsch Gahn. He married Vickie L. Russell April 29, 1972, in Burlington.

He was a 1970 graduate of West Burlington High School.   He had owned and operated Service Master of Burlington and Hardwood Specialties. He was a member of Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Des Moines County Conservation Board, Boy Scouts, Ducks Unlimited and the National Rifle Association.

Survivors include his wife; two sons, Forest Gahn and Caleb Gahn, both at home; twin daughters, Gretchen Gahn and Juniper Gahn, both at home; his parents of West Burlington; two brothers, Kim Gahn of West Burlington and Matthew Gahn of Eveleth, Minn.; three sisters, Sanchia M. Snyder and Andrea M a c z i e w s k i , both of Minneapolis, Minn., and Kathy Peterson of New Hope, Minn.; his grandmother, Clara Lietsch of West Burlington; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a brother.

The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at Lunning Chapel.

The funeral for Mr. Gahn will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Ss?nt with Bishop Edward E. Conwell, Tom E. Rickeberg and Ned W. Hunger officiating.   Burial will be in Bazel Cemetery, rural Burlington.

A memorial has been established for his children's education.

Kevin Gahn Wildlife Refuge The Kevin Gahn Wildlife Refuge is located just north of West Burlington on Washington Road. These 56 acres of land was transferred to the Conservation Board for management in 1993 and named in memory of Kevin Gahn, a board member tragically killed in an auto accident the year before.
